Children Miracle Network’s Radiothon, Hiking Carr Canyon Mountains, and Dinner at Sakura!

August 25, 2008

Thank you to Erika Grasse, Director of the Children’s Miracle Network in Tucson, for inviting me to the CMN Radiothon.  KRQ-FM’s morning show hosts Johnjay and Rich hosted a three-day Radiothon at Tucson Medical Center for the Children’s Miracle Network to benefit TMC children’s services. The Radiothon began Thursday morning, Aug. 21 and ran through Saturday afternoon, Aug. 23. Volunteers from TMC and the community answer telephones, while patients, families and TMC staff members share stories of children’s health challenges and the medical miracles that can happen at TMC.  Children’s Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for 170 affiliated children’s hospitals. Over the past two decades, local CMN campaigns at TMC have raised well over $7 million, all of which has remained here in Southern Arizona to support TMC children’s services. The Radiothon raises funds that are used to support children’s services at TMC.

Thomas and I had an amazing six-mile hike at Carr Canyon Saturday morning.  Carr Canyon provides the reward of extraordinary views of Sierra Vista, the San Pedro Valley, and a number of surrounding mountain ranges. We explored the Reef Townsite Loop Trail, Reef Townsite Campgrounds, and Ramsey Vista Campgrounds. From the Reef, the Carr Peak Trail and Comfort Spring Trail connect to an extensive network of trails that lead throughout the Huachuca range.
It was a pleasure to have dinner with David Marmel, Mr. An, Batsheva, Mr. and Mrs. Song, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee at the famous Sakura Japanese Restaurant.  Thank you to Mr. An and the Song and Lee family for your tremendous support and for your charitable contributions to our community.

From Las Vegas, Nevada to Bloomington, Indiana!

August 15, 2008

Thank you to Tony Underwood, his beautiful wife Deborah, and John Terhune for inviting me to Las Vegas to film my testimonial for Univera, an amazing scientifically proven health drink. I was impressed by your hard work and dedication to Univera and delighted by your commitment to promote Univera worldwide.  I was so proud to be chosen to give my testimonial for Univera’s website www.netimpact.us.  It was a pleasure meeting the Chief Scientific Officer, Stephen Cherniske. Congratulations on your latest book, “The Metabolic Plan,” and the great success of your company.  I appreciate your passion and commitment to promoting the health and well-being of your associates, customers, and their families.  Looking forward to working with you.  Thank you to Brad Lea, President/CEO of Lightspeed VT, and his incredible staff for their great service, knowledge, and professionalism.  It was great to see my friends Victoria (Mrs. Nevada ‘06), her husband John, Kelly, and Vanessa.

I was an honor to serve as the Award Presenter at the DCI World Championship in Bloomington, Indiana.  Thank you so much the Earl Hurrey , John Mahlmann, and Barbara Geer at MENC (National Association for Music Education) for inviting me to experience this incredible event and promote The National Anthem Project and the Mrs. America/ Mrs. World Organization.  It was a pleasure meeting the largest sponsors Steve and Sonja Trull, Executives of the DeMoulin Company.  Fans were treated to snare drummers flipping and tossing sticks, bass drummers running around their drums, dancers performing intricate moves, a tenor drum line playing a mandolin and djembes, brass musicians playing beautiful melodies, a timpanist whose feet moved faster than his hands, and much more.  Looking very much forward to the next DCI Event.
